With the new Spine Tag RFID print code and apply system, Weber Marking Systems offers a reliable marking solution for particularly narrow or flat components or parts with tongue and groove or milled slots which must remain identifiable years after installation or processing.

The system can, for instance, be used in window and door manufacture, in the building, furniture or electrical industries and in automobile and aircraft manufacture. A Scandinavian door manufacturer uses the RFID print code and apply system for unique identification and traceability of his products, internally as well as externally. In this case, the Legi-Air Spine Tag prints the serial number, product data and company details on a 4 to 5 mm narrow Smart Label which it accurately applies onto a very narrow groove with a tolerance of +/- 0.8 mm.

The system is based on a Legi-Air 4050 E label printer and dispenser with an integrated RFID printing module. The RFID printer handles both the printing of images, text and barcodes on the surface of the label and also reads and writes to a transponder, which is integrated in the label. A bad tag reject unit ensures that only perfectly readable tags are labeled. Damaged or faulty tags are detected and rejected.
